EPSDT stands for Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment. It's a Medicaid benefit that makes sure children and young adults under age 21 receive the health care they need — including medically necessary ABA therapy for those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Through EPSDT, Arkansas Medicaid covers individualized ABA services designed and supervised by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), so cost doesn't stand between your child and the support they need.

ABA services through the EPSDT benefit are generally available when the following are in place:
The child or young adult must be under 21 years old.
The child must be enrolled in Arkansas Medicaid (or a Medicaid plan such as AR Total Care, Empower, or Summit).
A diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder from 2 of these 3 professionals: a Medical Doctor, a Psychologist, or a Speech-Language Pathologist.
A prescription for ABA therapy from the child's Primary Care Physician, along with a well-child visit within the past year.
